We are all little oceans. Oceans that grew legs and walked out of their ancestor ocean. Those ancient microscopic ecosystems evolved into the organs and compartments of our bodies. When our little ocean bag is disrupted or fails to maintain equilibrium, we die with it.

And Earth’s ocean is merely one tiny, surface-clinging glimpse of the oceans that can be found throughout our solar system, our galaxy, and the universe as a whole. If we explore the ice moons of our solar system or spread humanity to other stars, these will be encounters between different oceans.

Other Oceans is a meditation on what’s possible for life, as captured in these simple facts: the cosmic distribution of our sister chemical processes.
